Julie Emami

Rug Curator & Manager

Be the change you want to see in the world.” ~M. Ghandi, “You are what you seek.” ~Rumi

Julie Emami’s journey into the world of rugs and design has been shaped by heritage, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the stories woven into every hand-knotted piece. Growing up surrounded by the colors, textures, and symbolism of traditional weaving, she developed an early love for this centuries-old art form.

Entering the rug industry as a young Persian woman came with challenges. In a traditionally male-dominated field, Julie often found herself as the only woman in the room, working to earn respect and establish her place. Those experiences strengthened her voice and deepened her commitment to sharing the artistry, patience, and human dedication behind woven art.

Her vision soon gained recognition beyond the design industry. Twice, Julie was selected by the Business Editors and Art & Culture Editors of the Miami Herald and Sun Sentinel Magazine as a featured female entrepreneur bringing innovation to the rug industry. She was celebrated for her creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to preserving the artistry of handwoven rugs while introducing them to a new generation of collectors and designers. Julie was also honored with the Iranian American Women of South Florida Award in Business, recognizing her professional achievements and contributions as a business leader.

Today, Julie brings her heritage, expertise, and discerning eye to her role as The Rug Manager & Curator at Clive Daniel Home. She approaches each rug as more than a design element, considering its craftsmanship, artistry, history, and the story it can bring to an interior.

While contemporary spaces often favor simpler handwoven rugs, Julie believes it is essential to preserve an appreciation for the human stories behind them. Every handwoven rug represents months of masterful work, with each knot reflecting the life, hope, and aspirations of the artisan who created it. Helping clients understand that connection allows them to see beyond color, texture, and pattern to appreciate the spirit and intention woven into every piece.

Trilingual and able to connect across cultures, Julie brings a global perspective to her work and relationships. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she is a devoted wife and mother of two beautiful daughters—roles that further enrich her appreciation for heritage, storytelling, and the meaningful connections that inspire her life and work.
