Rick Clary

General Manager

When Clive and Daniel Lubner began planning their new Sarasota store, they knew the perfect person for the position of General Manager: Rick Clary, their long-time associate, friend, and seasoned professional with a highly respected career spanning 40 years in furnishings. Rick had previously collaborated with Clive for 26 years, opening the Robb & Stucky store in Sarasota in 1985, serving as General Manager. Today, he is again working with the Lubner family as General Manager of their new 65,000-square-foot Clive Daniel Home showroom in Sarasota, preparing the store for its opening and hiring staff.

Respected nationally within the furnishings industry for his high energy and innovative merchandising, Rick is proud to be guiding the 60-person team in a beautiful state-of-the-art, two-story showroom. After living in the area for 40 years, he is familiar with every neighborhood and intends to help to introduce the Clive Daniel Home style to the growing Sarasota community. He believes it is vitally important to become involved with local organizations as a solid corporate citizen. 

In his early years, Rick attended Illinois Central College, earning a degree in Marketing Management and Bradley University, where he received a certificate in business management. At the age of 22, he began his furnishings career by making deliveries for a Peoria family-owned furniture store, rising to management levels. But the lure of their favorite Sarasota vacation spot attracted Rick and wife Christine to Florida in 1980. Married 51 years, they have two grown children and four grandchildren. Their interior designer daughter married a custom home builder, and their son owns a wholesale distributorship at Lakewood Ranch, so furnishings and design are a major part of the Clary family. 

After almost four decades in the high-end furniture business, Rick has a deep understanding of sales, marketing, and merchandising. He strives to provide clients with superior customer service and understands that strong leadership helps develop committed relationships with clients, vendors, and co-workers. His proven strength as a store manager lies in his relationship with his staff, often serving as their head cheerleader. Rick enjoys the rare blend of strong business acumen and a warm, engaging personality which have contributed to his continuing success.
