Naples, FL – January 27, 2020 – Daniel Lubner CEO and President of Clive Daniel Home recently announced the selection of John G. Whitman III (“JW”) as the company’s new Vice President of Interior Design. The industry veteran brings to his new position more than 25 years of achievements in product design for the home furnishings industry as well as luxury interior design. He will be working between both Clive Daniel Home locations in Naples and Boca Raton, Florida as he leads in the management of the firm’s 60 interior designers.
NCIDQ Certified and licensed in both Florida and Georgia, JW has earned praise and awards for crafting captivating interior and exterior designs for Residential, Hospitality, Retail, Marine and Commercial applications. The native Floridian earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota. Professional affiliations include membership in ASID plus a long list of regional and national design awards. These include 2000 Dream Home Best of Show for Tampa market, Sand Dollar awards from CBIA, Pinnacle awards from LBIA and a national Aurora award.

JW’s responsibilities at CDH will include assisting and supporting the design teams in developing creative solutions to design challenges and developing new business opportunities that contribute to the company’s strategic growth. He will also work with developers and architects to direct continuing projects, ensuring optimum execution of visions. Interfacing with all departments, he will ensure adherence to standards, processes and best practices while initiating training programs for designers.
During his career, the new CDH Vice president has designed and actualized concepts through final delivery for discerning clients worldwide. Not only has he created numerous bespoke luxury homes exceeding 50,000 square feet, but he has also created the product for Upholstered Furniture, Case-Goods Furniture, Fixed-Wire Lighting, Portable Lighting, Wall Décor and Decorative Accessories for private clientele and customers in the Home Furnishings and Hospitality Industries.
Prior to joining CDH, JW was most recently Product Design Manager for Surya, where he utilized his expertise in factory procurement and development in China and India. The 30-year old company is recognized internationally for fine area rugs as well as developing product lines for accent furniture, various types of lighting, wall décor and decorative accessories for the home furnishings industry.
As Director of Design for Carolyn Kinder International – with locations in China and St. Petersburg, Florida, for six years – he rose from artist to product designer, to Director of Design, guiding the U.S. and Asia side of the design business. He directed on-site project managers, CAD drafters and renderers in China to ensure accuracy of designs to the intended concepts, also directing showroom set-ups in both Asia and the U.S. Work was completed remotely as well as on the ground within the factories. (Carolyn Kinder has been named Designer of the year for 15 times for her product designs.) During JW’s tenure with the company, he lived ten months of the year in China and SE Asia, overseeing the development and manufacture of products.
Living and working in China, JW served as VP and Chief Design Director for Piaza Living Design – Noble China Worldwide, an international provider of high-end residential and commercial leather upholstery and leather goods, where he developed a “Western Style” full-service interior design company for luxury homes and hotels for the growing Chinese luxury residential market.
“Throughout many international postings,” JW added, “we’ve been successful in creating exquisite and complex designs, even when there were cultural and language barriers to overcome. Clearly, the good design sees no boundaries.”
During his seven years as Vice President of Interior Design for McGarvey Development Company of Fort Myers, Florida, he coordinated the design and development from concept to final delivery of luxury homes and commercial projects. One of these homes was selected to be featured in Architectural Digest. JW also directed clientele, guided team members and clients on selections of products, materials, millwork, cabinetry, lighting, plumbing and appliances while overseeing the architectural approval and permitting process.
