”What I love most about interior design is understanding a client’s vision and making it a reality for them.
Amie Pymm was born and raised in New York, and it was there that she was first exposed to the arts. She attended Broadway shows, visited museums, and traveled extensively, which helped her cultivate an appreciation for art and design early on. “Living in New York City afforded me the opportunity to see great design everywhere I went,” she said. “Whether walking through Times Square, discovering a cool new speakeasy in the East Village, or attending an art gallery opening on the Upper West Side, I was surrounded by design—and I couldn’t get enough of it.”
It was only natural, then, that Amie would choose to pursue a career in interior design, so she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She then worked as an interior designer in NYC for 14 years. “It was amazing to work in the epicenter of design,” she said.
After meeting her husband, Amie moved with him to Connecticut to raise their family. While there, she continued to hone her passion for creating beautiful interiors. In fact, one of her favorite projects is a residence she designed in Rowayton that overlooked Long Island Sound. It posed several challenges, including needing to blast into the bedrock to build into cliff without disturbing neighboring properties, but the result was worth it.
“What I love most about interior design is understanding a client’s vision and making it a reality for them,” Amie said. She considers herself particularly skilled in space planning and paint selections, although she enjoys all aspects of design.
Outside of work, Amie loves exploring her new Sarasota surroundings, traveling, exercising, and trying new restaurants with her family.
